Walking in Salento: friendship under the sun

When I decided to go through a section of the Salento Path I didn’t think it would be such an intense experience. I wanted to walk, to detach, but also a bit of fear to the idea of doing it alone. Then I found out Journey Buddies and there I found two boys, Marta and Luca, who were looking for someone for that time.

We met in Lecce the first morning and seemed to have known each other forever. Between secular olive groves, crystal clear sea and white villages, we walked hours talking about everything: work, dreams, disappointments, future. The fatigue of the path turned into laughter every time someone proposed the new ice cream “to recharge energies”.

When we arrived at Santa Maria di Leuca, at sunset, with the hot wind on the face and the sea in front, we embraced ourselves as long-time friends.
That trip gave me a lot more than a holiday: it gave me two people who are now part of my life.
